Congratulations to Evangeline (Year 12), who recently achieved success in the prestigious Immerse Education Essay Competition, an international competition that challenges students to engage with complex academic questions and demonstrate outstanding critical thinking and written communication skills.
Entrants were required to submit a 500-word essay on a topic of their choice. Evangeline selected the thought-provoking question:
“If modern algorithmic data can predict exactly which social or economic policies will maximize a population’s collective welfare, does a government still need a moral or philosophical framework to govern, or does politics simply become a problem of optimization?”
Through her insightful response, Evangeline impressed the competition judges and was awarded a 30% scholarship towards an Immerse Education course in 2027.
This achievement reflects Evangeline’s intellectual curiosity, analytical skills and willingness to engage with big ideas beyond the classroom. We are incredibly proud of her success and look forward to seeing what she accomplishes next.
