Our Minerva Lecture series returned for the new academic year last Thursday, with an empowering and truly inspirational presentation from award-winning social entrepreneur, Clarity Coach and business owner, Mayo Ajimobi.
Speaking to a captivated audience of students, Mayo delivered a powerful talk titled “The Woman Behind the Business,” sharing her personal journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur and working with major global brands such as Amazon, Barclays, Apple and Sky HQ.
Throughout her lecture, Mayo urged our girls to dream big and cultivate true resilience, emphasising that setback and failure are often stepping stones toward long term success. She offered a candid look into what it takes to build a thriving career without losing sight of one’s core values and well-being.
Mayo’s impressive background seamlessly bridges creativity, strategy and numbers. Having studied Business, Maths and Photography at college before earning her degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of West London, she demonstrated early community leadership as President of her university’s Afro Caribbean Society.
Today, she is the founder of The Lady Powerhouse CIC, a social enterprise dedicated to helping early stage female founders build meaningful businesses and fulfilling lives. Her commitment to driving social change was recently recognised when she was named Trailblazer of the Year at the 2025 Social Ark Step Up Awards.
Described by many in attendance as deeply inspiring, Mayo’s passion for community and empowering the next generation left our students energised and motivated as they begin their own academic journeys this year.
