This week, our Junior School celebrated British Science Week with energy, imagination and plenty of questions. This year’s theme – Curiosity – resonated strongly with our school values of Curiosity, Courage and Compassion, and the girls embraced each activity with enthusiasm.

A particularly exciting highlight was the visit from a forensic scientist, who is also a Year 6 parent. She shared real-life investigative techniques and showed the girls how scientific curiosity drives problem-solving in her field. Her session sparked plenty of wide‑eyed questions from our budding scientists.
Throughout the school, pupils took part in a picture trail featuring unusual and intriguing scientific images. Every girl was invited to post her own questions about what she noticed, creating wonderful moments of discussion, wonder and collaborative thinking.

In the week preceding Science Week, five pupils from Year 5 attended a special GDST Science Day at the Royal Institution. Their science show was live‑streamed into school, allowing the whole Junior School to share in the excitement and feel connected to this prestigious event.
“Overall, it was a week that truly celebrated the joy of asking questions, exploring boldly and supporting one another as curious thinkers – an inspiring reflection of our school values in action.”Sheetal Kowalczyk, Primary Science Specialist
