Congratulations to Year 12 student Maya, who represented the school superbly at the Articulation Prize 2025, held at Christie’s – one of the world’s leading and most prestigious auction houses.

The Articulation Prize is a nationally renowned public speaking competition in which students aged 16–19 deliver a ten-minute presentation on an artwork, artefact, or photograph of their choice. Designed to develop confidence, critical thinking, and a deeper engagement with visual culture, the competition attracts talented young speakers from across the country.

Maya delivered a compelling and thought-provoking presentation on Leo Fitzmaurice’s 2015 installation Litter. The event was adjudicated by Rachel Dedman, Curator of Contemporary Art from the Middle East at the V&A, who praised Maya for her clever, incisive, and polemical approach. She highlighted Maya’s sensitive exploration of materials often dismissed as worthless, her insightful contrast between plastic and bronze, and her powerful reflections on climate, value, and the social responsibility of art.

Although not progressing to the finals, Maya’s performance was exceptional. She now joins the Articulation Alumni Network, gaining access to valuable opportunities, including professional training and work experience.
