The final weeks of term were packed with inspiring workshops and heartfelt performances across the Dance Department.
On Monday 23rd June, dancer and choreographer Takeshi Matsumoto led a Minerva Lecture workshop with Year 2 and Year 10 GCSE pupils. Year 2 explored movement through origami, developing solos and a group improvisation.
“It was fun, calming and the music sounded like a cheetah running through a forest.”Year 2 pupil
Year 10 pupils also created origami-inspired movement and gained insight into Takeshi’s global touring and creative process.
“It was such a fun experience and was so intriguing to see Takeshi’s creative process and how we could create our own movement material inspired by origami.”Year 10 pupil
Year 12 A level Dance students took part in a high-energy jazz workshop with Hazel, where they learned technical routines and iconic Bob Fosse choreography from Steam Heat.
Meanwhile, as part of the Sixth Form elective, Year 8 pupils joined Sixth Formers on their weekly visit to Elmwood Residential Home. Their tap dances, singing, and conversations brought joy to the residents. The shared dancing and laughter made for a truly heartwarming experience, with plans already in place to return in September.
It’s been a vibrant and fulfilling end to the term for Bromley High School’s dance community!
