The school community has been a strong supporter of the work at the WONDER Foundation over the past month, donating over £1,400 to the charity.

WONDER are a woman-led charity dedicated to transforming the lives of women, girls and their communities through quality education.

The donations have come from pupils following a recent own-clothes day.  Parents, staff and friends of the school community have also joined together to support the wonderful work of WONDER.

Ms Christie’s Year 7 English pupils have made an extra special effort, and their support for WONDER ties in with their reading of ‘In the Sea There Are Crocodiles’ by Fabio Geda; a refugee’s story of survival and hope. Many of the Year 7 pupils and their parents and friends have also made individual anonymous donations to the charity’s Giving Tuesday appeal.

In the new year, the school will be continuing fundraising efforts for the WONDER Foundation. Two open mic events are organised with a theme of empowering women and girls, with pupils sharing music and poetry. As part of the school’s 140th birthday celebrations next year, the school will also be holding a ‘Design a Cake’ competition and having a bake sale to further support the work of the charity.

“We would especially like to thank Ms. Christie’s Year 7 pupils. Together, Bromley’s Giving Tuesday donation will play a vital role in supporting refugee and migrant women across our programmes all over the world. Thank you, Bromley High School!”WONDER Foundation
