In the final run-up to the festive season, it is worth pausing to reflect as educators of girls on the importance of creating an environment which places equal value on academic achievement in school and the formation of character through fun and joyous events.

Our final two weeks of term have been filled with happiness and celebration, including Junior and Senior trips to St George’s Church, Christmas concerts, our second Wellbeing Week and Year 6 Parent Tea Parties.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to our Bromley High Parent Association who hosted a spectacular Christmas Market and funded our Junior School Pantomime performance and Senior School pizza lunch. The BHPA play an extremely important role in our school and are a valued part of our community.

Amongst all these activities in our final weeks of the Autumn term, we have thought carefully about how we prepare girls to manage the busy festive season and focus on their own wellbeing; particularly our Year 11 and 13 pupils who will be balancing their mock exam preparation with the Christmas celebrations. We have spoken to the pupils about maintaining connections, keeping active, taking me-time and giving to others. The theme of charitable giving has been prevalent this term, with coat donations for Wrap Up London and raising money for the WONDER Foundation with bake sales and own-clothes days.

To all pupils and staff who joined Bromley High School this September (including myself!), congratulations for completing your first term successfully. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have and that you come back raring to go in January.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Mrs Emily Codling, Headmistress
