Earlier this week, Year 3 enjoyed a fun-packed Roman Day, learning all about life in ancient Rome.

The girls, dressed in wonderful Roman costumes, spent the whole day ‘at the fort’ working hard on their activities, including making and writing on wax tablets, making colourful mosaics, and creating perfumed oils at the bath house.

As the children were hard at work, news arrived that Boudicca was winning important battles against the Romans, including destroying London, St Albans, and the IX Legion’s infantry. The girls were eager to hear whether they would be safe in the fort. To everyone’s relief, they were, and the good news was celebrated with an afternoon of performing plays, singing and dancing.

A fantastic day was had by all!

“I really enjoyed Roman Day. I liked doing all the activities as we all got to take part in them and they were great fun too. I especially loved the singing. It was epic!” Ella, Year 3

“Roman Day was a really special day. I had been waiting for it since the Autumn Term! I wore an empress dress as it had a purple sash. I learned more about Latin and how the Romans wrote using wax tablets and papyrus and ink and I also learned about their ideas of decorating their houses using frescos and mosaics. I wish we could have Roman Day again!” Divija, Year 3
