Earlier this month, Year 7 pupils attended a workshop with Caroline Lawrence, Author of ‘How to write a great story’.

Caroline Lawrence is an English American author, best known for The Roman Mysteries series of historical novels for children. The series is about a Roman girl called Flavia and her three friends: Nubia (a freed slave girl), Jonathan (a shunned Jewish boy) and Lupus (a beggar boy without a tongue). The series has won numerous awards and has been published in many different languages worldwide.

The pupils were keen to know more about Caroline and her interests as well as how she interprets her ideas and skills into a new book!

After her talk, the girls took part in a workshop on creative writing. They we were able to collaborate to form a storyboard that involved each of the main steps of a Latin/classical story that Caroline had taught them. Year 7 had a choice either to express their story with pictures or write it down on paper.

“I enjoyed working in teams and letting our imaginations run wild and  creating our own stories. The steps Caroline taught us will be very useful for my future creative writing!”Emily, Year 7 pupil
