Creating a Play in a Day

The combined talents of the Music & Drama Departments took Year 7 on the journey of creating a play in a day. 50 girls from Year 7 were presented with the task of staging 2 of ‘Aesops Fables’ armed only with a junkyard accumulation of props, a ragtag array of hats and a handful of show-tunes. The race was on.  At 2.45 the pieces were to be performed. Cue a frantic spin through "Food Glorious Food" and "Good Morning Baltimore" whilst dressing up in hats & ribbons, spinning umbrellas, being sheep (!) and generally being as wildly creative as possible. During the process the girls managed to create: a farm, a front room, a market place, a mountain top, a sheep herd, kitchen utensils whilst only using their imaginations as a tool and having to learn songs, dances, movement sequences and the script in barely 5 hours. Phew!
