Research tells us that girls and boys learn differently. This means that they need to be taught differently if they are to make excellent progress. In order to get the very best out of a class of girls and boys, therefore, one needs to teach two different lessons. It is clear also from visiting co-educational schools, that girls and boys see each other differently and that, in such an environment, it is possible for these views to be emphasised. In a girls only environment such as Bromley High, these stereotypes do not exist. The girls have some girls only space in which to explore their interests and their passions and are supported in doing so by teachers who open their eyes to the myriad opportunities available to them, without suggesting that they follow any particular pathway. It is undeniable that girls do better without boys around – and here we can make that happen for them. As the only all girls’ school in the area, we provide the space and professional expertise for our girls to shine. And the wonderful thing is – that as a day school, the girls can have a proper social life (after school and at weekends) with their friends - boys and girls.
