Bromley High School is a school with 130 years of tradition, but with a view to the future. As a parent, you want your daughter to be safe, challenged, excited by school, surrounded by people who care about her, and supported to pursue her dreams, whatever they might be. It is easy, visiting some schools, to be overawed by impressive architecture and buildings and to forget about what really matters. I am afraid that our buildings do not remind visitors of Hogwarts ... but our emphasis on an ethos that fosters respect and traditional values, where it is normal to be polite and to work hard in lessons and where the importance of helping girls to learn is at the very heart of what we as teachers do each day. Our teachers are experts; each one dedicated to girls’ education in the very broadest sense. Lessons are stimulating and varied and are focused on girls, how they learn and how best to teach them. Our teachers are experienced in the education of girls – with just the right balance of help and advice, against challenge and aspiration. Girls at Bromley High are just as likely to do well in maths or sciences at A level as in the arts or humanities. Here there is no pigeon-holing, there is no presumption, there is a delight in learning, a desire to do one’s best and a belief that it is right for girls to aspire to the very highest level. And it is in this environment, where every girl is equal, and every girl is an individual, that every girl can thrive.
