We offer a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that aims to meet the needs and aspirations of every girl, enabling them to reach their full potential.  We encourage girls to work independently, innovatively and collaboratively. Our staff provides a stimulating learning environment incorporating a range of teaching styles to challenge and motivate the girls.

As an independent school we are not obliged, by law, to implement the National Curriculum but we do take note of its requirements while continuing to provide the depth and breadth that our parents expect for their daughters.  We are also keen to be flexible in our approach and to be able to respond to individual needs.

The broad base of this curriculum is an excellent foundation for the choices that every girl will make for her GCSE study in Years 10 and 11.

Most of our pupils will study for 9 or 10 GCSEs. They all study the core subjects of Mathematics, English Language and Literature, Double or Triple Science, a Modern Foreign Language, with up to three further subjects chosen for GCSE.  Girls will choose from the currently available subjects: Art, Dance, Design Technology, Drama, Economics, Geography, History, ICT, French, German or Spanish as an extra foreign language, Latin, Music, Physical Education and Religious Studies. In addition to their examination courses, all girls will follow non-examination courses in PE, general studies including PSHE and careers.

Girls are guided carefully at all stages, particularly in their selection of GCSE choices during Year 9.  All course options are treated with equal respect.  Some pupils sit certain GCSEs a year or even two years early, enabling them to increase their range of subjects.
