In KS2 all pupils continue to be taught the National Curriculum subjects as well as Personal, Social, Health Education with Citizenship and RE. The teaching approach is through individually timetabled lessons and wherever it is possible, cross-curricular links are made between subjects.
Girls who are gifted and talented and those with special educational needs are identified and interventions are put in place to help address their needs.
Specialist Subjects – Science, Music, Drama, French, Spanish, German, Mandarin, Games, Gym, Dance, Swimming, ICT
A key part of our high standards is our access to specialist teaching and facilities in each of these subjects. All music lessons are taught by highly accomplished musicians and all children in KS2 are offered individual instrumental tuition. We offer a wide range of sporting activities for all levels of abilities, with the majority of the girls particpating. The school teams have seen so many sporting successes at local, regional and national levels. We are at the forefront of educational thinking in many subjects and create and lead many exciting projects to further develop the girls’ knowledge and skills.
Assessment
Academic rigour is ensured through regular assessment of the girls’ learning and standards. Girls are assessed throughout their time in Key Stage 2 through marking, observations and formal testing. Clear planning is put in place for progression within the school into Year 7 and beyond.
