We are proud of our girls’ abilities and whatever they may be we challenge and support them to go beyond even their own expectations. Our standards within academic subjects are high and our focus on the key skills of reading, writing and arithmetic help the girls to explore other traditional subjects effectively and creatively. At Bromley High Junior School your daughter will develop an expert style of handwriting, a good grasp of mental maths and will learn to read expressively. As an all through school we have a wealth of expertise to draw upon to create an outstanding curriculum. Girls are taught by subject specialists in science, ICT, DT, languages and PE. However, we know that our girls want more from their education than just the fundamentals.
Physical education plays an important and integral part in the lives of the girls of the Junior School. All girls from Year 3 upwards are fortunate to have weekly swimming lessons in our own pool. All are encouraged to develop as sportswomen in both timetabled lessons and the extensive range of sports clubs. Our sports teams have built a fine reputation over many years at local, county and national level. Our girls who excel in a certain area of sport are encouraged and challenged to reach the highest possible levels.
At the Junior School we put a special emphasis on the creative and expressive arts. Every girl is given many opportunities to express herself creatively from her very first day.
Dance, drama and art lessons enable the girls to respond to a range of stimuli in exciting and innovative ways. They produce performances and artwork of an exceptional standard inspired by their enriched curriculum.
Our innovative ICT curriculum encourages the girls to learn at their own levels and explore the opportunities provided for them through the use of emerging technologies. Video conferencing, blogging, animations and wikis are all used to create meaningful links in their education.
In music the girls compose, compare and perform music of a wide variety of styles. Extra-curricular clubs and private lessons are available for girls who wish to immerse themselves more fully. Regular ensemble and individual performances enable the girls to gain confidence and enjoyment and showcase their talents to family, friends and the wider community.
