• Interested in all aspects of the economy around you - from the NHS, to the housing market, to the funding of sport and leisure facilities (also don't forget that economic decisions have political implications)

The subject is rightly perceived as being academically challenging and vigorous; we therefore aim to attract candidates of a suitable calibre. Our syllabus comprises:

• The National Economy
• Markets at Work
• Business Economics
• International and Government Policies

Coursework forms part of the teaching process; we have found coursework to be very productive in terms of both the learning experience and the grades achieved. Students are offered the chance to participate in the biannual European Study Tour , which is organised in conjunction with Business Studies . We attend many conferences and revision classes and attend events organised by the Institute of Economic Affairs . Each year the best performing pupil is awarded the Barclays Bank Economics Prize. We have an encouraging number of pupils who carry on with the subject at university. Those who do can guarantee successful careers upon graduation.
