French is introduced in Reception and taught by a Prep teacher. A French specialist teaches years 1-5. Year 6 are taught by a French specialist from the Senior School to provide a smooth transition to the next stage of their education. At the end of Y1 the girls invite their parents to an open lesson to show what they have learned. They sing a selection of songs and recite rhymes about the weather, animals and storybook characters. An afternoon of French and music is held at the end of Y2. In Y4 all the girls have the opportunity to go on a day trip to Boulogne and practise the language they have learned in the classroom in an authentic situation.
