Thank you for your interest in Bromley High School . We hope you will wish to make a formal application for your daughter to come to the school and would like to outline the admissions procedure to you which is applicable for girls of all ages. We welcome applications from families of all ethnic groups and all religions regardless of whether girls have previously been in independent or maintained schools or, in the case of 4+ children, have not been in schools at all.
Please note that we are an over-subscribed, academically selective school and unfortunately we are unable to accept all those who apply to us.
In the Prospectus you will find the GDST registration form. Please complete this and return it to our Admissions Secretary at the school together with the GDST registration fee of £75. What happens next depends on your daughter's age.
If you are looking for entry to Bromley High at any point other than the normal entry points of Reception (4+), Year 3 (7+), Year 7 (11+) or Sixth Form your daughter's application will be kept on file until a vacancy arises in her age group when we will contact you to arrange for her to come in for assessment. She will be assessed by giving her a short entry test of differing length and style, depending on her age. Normal tests are in English, Mathematics and non-verbal Reasoning. The results of the tests will be valid for up to one year. A subsequent future application would be needed for re-testing after this time. If applying for a senior school vacancy the assessment will take the form of written exam papers in English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French and German (if applicable). The offer of a place is also dependent on an interview and a good report from the current school.
If you are applying for 4+ (Reception) place , you will be invited to bring your daughter for assessment, which will include an activities session on Saturday, 12 January 2008 followed by a small group session with staff of the Prep Department across the following week.
If you are applying for 7+ (Year 3) place , you will be invited to bring your daughter for assessment on the morning of either 21st, 22nd or 23rd January 2008.
If your daughter is applying for 11+ (national curriculum Year 7) you will be invited to bring her to meet either the Head or a member of the Senior Management Team when you will have the opportunity to ask any questions and to discuss matters of mutual interest. These interviews last about 20 minutes and take place throughout the Autumn Term. The 11+ Entrance Examination will include papers in English and Mathematics and a general paper with a section including science data which will give candidates the opportunity to show their ideas and some non-verbal reasoning. This will be held on Tuesday, 15 January 2008.
If your daughter is applying for Sixth Form you will be invited to the Sixth Form Open Evening on Tuesday 9 th October 2007 from 6.45 pm, and a follow up evening on 10th January 2008 from 7.00 pm.
Bursaries and Scholarships are available at entry into Year 7 and the Sixth Form only.
We look forward to receiving your application and to meeting you again. Please do not hesitate to telephone our Admissions Secretary, Mrs Woodfield, on 020 8468 7981, if you have any queries.
